The mobile clinic will serve all of Orange County, Florida, and will be deployed an average of 30 hours per week, prioritizing underserved communities with low access to healthcare services. The mobile clinic will support Orange County Medical Services to address numerous health disparities that exist in the County, and to fill gaps in services. Orange County contains 31 zip codes where poverty rates are in excess of 20%, including nine where poverty rates range from 30-39%, five where that range is 40-49%, and four with poverty rates that exceed 50%. Those zip codes alone amount for 454,370 people living below the Federal poverty threshold. The mobile clinic will support Orange County Medical Services to reach those who are impacted by these disparities, and thus have historically had insufficient access to health care. The mobile unit will be deployed to locations that congregate people, such as schools, community centers, homeless shelters, churches, and parks, and will leverage community events to provide services.
