Community Project Funding/Congressionally Directed Spending - Construction - Spring Hill College (SHC) will construct a new 55,000-to-60,000 square foot, stand-alone structure, the Health and Science Innovation Center, on its campus in Mobile, Alabama. The new Health and Science Innovation Center will offer SHC students and faculty superior classroom and laboratory spaces to support biology, biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, chemistry, computer science, health professions, mathematics, nursing, and physics academic programs. Federal funding will be used to construct the new Health and Science Innovation Center. This is a new building project, and federal funding will not be used to modify existing space on SHC. Once constructed, federal funding will be used to equip and furnish the Health and Science Innovation Center. SHC is requesting $32,952,994 to defray construction costs and $2,047,006 in moveable equipment for the new building. SHC will augment the federal funding and use other charitable donations and its cash reserves to cover all expenditures exceeding $35,000,000 to construct and equip the Health and Science Innovation Center. Planning has begun, and the building is expected to open for students for instruction in August 2026.
