Originally built in 1982-1983, the 5,200sf clinic has had no major renovations or aggressive maintenance since its original construction, almost 40 years ago. While the clinic is generally workable for the majority of the year, it is not properly sized for summer activity starting in late April and continuing through September during the worlds largest annual Wild Alaska Sockeye Salmon commercial fishing season and Katmai NP, sport fishing/tourist seasons. Even during nonpeak times, the clinic has space utilization and traffic flow issues, inadequate testing and dispensary facilities, lack of storage, and lack of provider office space. The structure lacks the data, power, ventilation, and other utility infrastructure needed for a modern medical facility. To better serve Camai’s patients and the community, a roughly 5,000sf addition is being designed to the north of the clinic. The addition includes new exam rooms, relocated and enlarged rooms including Emergency/Urgent Care, Radiology, Providers Office, and Nurse’s Station on the main level. A full basement is included with much-needed storage space, a laundry room, and mechanical and electrical spaces. Renovation of the existing facility includes expanding and relocating Mental/Behavioral Health rooms and offices, consolidated Administration Suite to include a new training and conference room, as well as an expanded Dispensary. In addition, a new roof and siding will be installed, and the existing entryway is redesigned to allow for code compliance.
