Funding received from the Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) will be used to construct an addition to a Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center (LCHD) building located at 18698 Peterson Road in Libertyville, IL (10th District of Illinois) to increase the number of behavioral health services that can be provided at that location. Currently, the building is at full capacity and additional services cannot be offered without expanding the space. The site is both a Community Mental Health Center (CMHC) and a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and offers services to the uninsured, under-insured, and those with Medicaid and Medicare. Primary care, psychiatry, counseling, and case management are primarily provided to adults with mental illness at the site. An expansion of the site will allow the LCHD to provide additional services such as substance use counseling, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for substance use disorders, counseling, and case management to children and youth. These services are currently offered at other locations in Lake County, primarily Waukegan, Round Lake Beach, and Round Lake Park, and this expansion project would allow more services to be provided closer to people who live in the southern part of Lake County.
