In order to better serve the northern New Jersey community, Hackensack Meridian Health is engaged in the development and construction of a new tower at Hackensack University Medical Center, the largest construction project in the hospital's history to date. This new tower will add 530,000 sq. ft. of new space--including a new intensive care unit (which became a critical need during the COVID-19 pandemic) and 350 jobs at HUMC. Congressionally-directed spending will support the purchase of a portable CT scanner for this new ICU. Providing this equipment will enable seriously ill patients--for whom moving throughout the hospital is difficult and in some cases dangerous--easier and safer access to imaging services to determine whether the procedure or treatment provided has been successful.
