Urban Health Plan Roof Replacement and HVAC Upgrades Urban Health Plan, El Nuevo San Juan Health Center 1065 Southern Boulevard Bronx, NY 10459 Project Director: Paloma Hernandez 718-589-2440 paloma.hernandez@urbanhealthplan.org www.urbanhealthplan.org Amount Requested: $500,000 New Center for Disease Control and New York City air quality standards require that Urban Health Plan update electrical and mechanical systems in several of its sites. Urban will utilize Congressionally Directed Spending funds to modernize the HVAC systems of one of its largest sites, El Nuevo San Juan, located in the South Bronx in New York City. The center opened in 2001 and a recent energy assessment conducted by a private firm has indicated that upgrades need to be made to the building’s HVAC system in order for it to be energy efficient and meet both Center for Disease Control and New York City air quality standards. In addition to the upgrading of the HVAC system, Urban Health Plan will also replace the roof of the second story of the building which, after 20 years needs replacement.
