Funds will be used to modernize a simulation courtroom facility and to purchase industry standard equipment for the college’s Interprofessional Health Sciences Simulation Center and certified nursing assistant lab. The simulation courtroom facility will allow the College of Health to continue its efforts to improve the prosecution of domestic and sexual violence cases in Alaska. This will support the medical and legal community to ensure trauma informed care for victims of violence and to promote justice for all victims in Alaska. The Interprofessional Health Sciences Simulation Center and certified nursing assistant lab provide diverse learning opportunities in a safe and supportive environment. This promotes communication, collaboration, and integration of Alaskan healthcare partners with a focus on preparing learners to be competent, confident, and compassionate health professionals. This benefits the communities and residents of Alaska by: (1) meeting high demand and/or regional health workforce needs; (2) increasing innovative work-based learning opportunities that provide greater relevance to students’ learning and future careers; and (3) improving access to and flexibility of training delivery.
