Address: 4817 S. Apache Avenue, Sierra Vista, AZ 85650-9702 Project Director: Mark H. Savage, 520-678-6745, msavage@fryfiredistrict.com Requested Funding: $105,000.00 This project will deploy five cardiac monitors, five manual defibrillators, and five automated external defibrillators on advanced life support ambulances, fire engines, and other emergency response apparatus across a 200 square mile area in southeastern Arizona. The response area is immediately adjacent to the U.S. / Mexico border and includes approximately 60,000 residents. Our personnel engage in approximately 3,300 patient interactions in this area per year. These requested monitors will replace aging cardiac monitors that have been in service for the past 17 years. Despite a mid-life upgrade, the current monitors are near the end of service life and beginning to experience reliability issues and failures in the field. The new cardiac monitors are expected to have a 10-15 year life span. They will provide paramedics with cutting-edge patient assessment and diagnostic tools that are capable of providing emergency room physicians and remote cardiologists with real-time electrocardiographic telemetry, better informing their diagnosis and treatment decisions, ultimately improving patient outcomes and survivability. New monitors should be able to be purchased and deployed within 60 days of funding approval.
