The North Carolina Department of Insurance(NCDOI)is proud of its track record for assisting consumers and is wholeheartedly committed to expanding its consumer assistance program, Health Insurance Smart NC (Smart NC), in an effort to provide North Carolina citizens an office they can turn to and rely upon when faced with questions or challenges regarding their health insurance. Smart NC, established in October,2010, operates independently from the regulatory divisions of the NCDOI and considers the needs of the consumers a top priority thus,advocating for them across all organizational boundaries with a high degree of aggressiveness and vigor. As a result of Smart NC there is a significant difference in the way customer service is being delivered to consumers on health insurance issues within NCDOI.
