Affordable Care Act (ACA) - Consumer Assistance Program Grant Project - The Georgia Department of Insurance is requesting a grant for the purpose of expanding and enhancing its consumer assistance programs by: • Expanding and enhancing its ability to provide assistance to consumers with health insurance issues, including its ability to assist consumers wishing to formally appeal decisions made by their health insurer. The Georgia Department of Insurance intends to accomplish this goal by utilizing existing consumer assistance personnel in combination with additional qualified personnel (e.g., attorneys or individuals with health insurance experience) to provide health insurance assistance to consumer and to advocate for consumers by assisting and filing appeals of decisions made by their health insurer. • Improving its capability to receive and track telephone calls from consumers seeking assistance by implementing call center functionality within its Consumer Services Division.
