Project Abstract The applicant for funding under the Consumer Assistance Program Grant for Puerto Rico is the Office of the Patient’s Advocate (OPA) of Puerto Rico which responds directly to the Governor. Since 2001, the Office of Patient’s Advocate has been responsible for enforcing the Bill of Patient Rights and Responsibilities as stipulated under the Law Number #11. The OPA is the government agency with the power in the law to defend and protect the rights of the nearly four million constituents, whether or not insured by a health plan. The proposed Consumer Assistance Expansion (CASE)- for Puerto Rico is focused on expanding the services of the Call Center. The following goals and objectives will be accomplishment with the funding of this project: Project Goal: To expand the Call Center of the Office of the Patient’s Advocate (OPA) of Puerto Rico services in support of the consumer assistance program.
