Project Abstract: Pennsylvania State Consumer Assistance Program Goals and Objectives: 1. Expand advocacy on behalf of health insurance consumers to: a. help consumers enroll in coverage; b. educate consumers about their rights and responsibilities regarding their health insurance plans; c. help consumers file internal appeals and educate consumers about external appeals; d. report on problems that consumers experience by collecting and analyzing data to share with the Department of Health and Human Services; and e. help consumers obtain premium tax credits. 2. Create an integrated, state-wide education and consumer outreach program on the benefits offered by PPACA and its implementation. 3. Develop new internet web enhancements that will: a. allow consumers to check on the status of the Pennsylvania Insurance Department???s (PID???s) review of their complaints/inquiries, b. submit comments and/or questions and c. check on the overall consumer complaint record for insurance companies.
