Fiscal Year 2023 Capital Assistance for Hurricane Response and Recovery Efforts (CARE) - WNCCHS proposes using CARE funds to undertake one project: Construction/Expansion of an Existing Facility Construction/Expansion (C/E) of an Existing Facility: McDowell Health Center, 136 Creekview Court, Marion, NC 28752. The expansion for this project will add 326 square feet. This addition will house a stairwell connecting the two levels of the building. Connecting the two levels will allow staff and patients to access services on both levels. The improvement to the upper level will consist of approximately 1,600 square feet. The improvements and reconfiguration of the upper level will create a pharmacy, breakroom for staff, two bathrooms, six offices for behavioral health (BH) staff and the site manager, plus a flex office. The addition to the lower level will create a 154 sq ft office for 4 enabling staff. Housing the enabling staff on the same level as primary care will allow easier access to services for WNCCHS patients. Enabling services will include care management, transportation, referral services, and a community health worker. WNCCHS will add a generator to this site to ensure continuous functioning and to keep vaccines and pharmacy medications safe. The generator will be placed on the west side of the building, opposite from the addition.
