Fiscal Year 2023 Capital Assistance for Hurricane Response and Recovery Efforts (CARE) - The State of Florida has experienced recent tragedies and destruction caused by deadly storms such as Hurricane Ian. The Hurricane Ian disaster highlighted to need for agencies from all industries, in particular healthcare, to strengthen their infrastructure to increase the capability and capacity to prepare, respond, survive and recover from hurricanes and other disasters impacting the organization’s ability to continue to serve and meet the needs of their citizens, especially those from underserved populations. During times of disasters, organizations need to be able to stand up command centers, serve as distribution sites for medication and supplies to provide disaster relief, staging staff to be ready for disaster response, provide an alternative space for patient services and or triage, set up a staging area for the deployment of our mobile medical and dental units for community outreach and clinical care for areas of greatest need and impact, and assist the community in any disaster response as required. We propose to renovate an existing facility without increasing the square footage to support emergency response efforts needed for hurricanes and other disasters impacting our community. We also propose to include the purchase of equipment needed to support these renovations in addition to equipment needed to increase capacity for continuity of care for underserved populations as detailed within the grant application.
