Fiscal Year 2023 Capital Assistance for Hurricane Response and Recovery Efforts (CARE) - Patillas Community Governing Board/CSPS Patillas proposes to renovate a physical building acquired in 2019; in order to relocate some of our clinical services offered in the actual site. Actually, the site in use is too small, with limited spaces to offer the services adequately and comfortably to all patients. The waiting room is only for twelve patients, distributed among all services. Most of them have to wait to be seen by doctors outside the room; most of the time being affected by weather conditions. Maunabo clinic has 4,000 users registered annually and providers see approximately 80 patients daily. All our sites are located in areas where most hurricanes impact our island. During Hurricane María, Fiona and other atmospheric events, towns were affected severely (roads closed, utilities shrinkages, flood, landslides, among other consequences).. With this project, we will increase the capacity and capability to be separated to respond promptly to any future emergencies or disasters; and assure the general operation and continuity of primary care services for underserved population. This project proposes the renovation of 7,206 square feet of a two-story building, located in front of the actual site, in Maunabo, PR (one of our town in service area). This space will be reconfigured to have a wide patient waiting room for approximately 40 users. Also, the facility will have five medical rooms for primary care providers, including telemedicine; three (3) are for nurses triages and screening; Registration and Referral Area; Social Services and Pharmacy. Other non-clinical services will be relocated in the second office; as area for supplies storage, Billings, Coding department, administrator office; kitchenette, rest area for employees and a conference room. In case of an emergency, personnel can stop there to manage the situation. As we mentioned before, our objective is to relocate these services to this facility, including the actual medical/office equipment in use. The project includes cosmetic work, new tile flooring, repaint walls, lighting replacement (energy efficient requirement); installing of A/C units, fire prevention equipment; electrical upgrades, plumbing work, elimination of any architectural barriers for handicapped and other works related to remodeling building. Our center has a generator of 250 KVA already; that the contractor will be installing there. The facility acreage is 0.0978 and it is surrounded by commercial banks and government offices, including the mayor’s court. It is located in an urban area where there is no vegetation on site, all is paved. The building has 7,206 square feet to be remodeled and have some parking lots in the front of the site for handicapped patients. There is a public car park where patients can park near the clinic; also use the streets.
