Fiscal Year 2023 Capital Assistance for Hurricane Response and Recovery Efforts (CARE) - Centro Integrados de Servicios de Salud Lares (CISS) is undertaking a construction and expansion project for their pediatric services facility in collaboration with project manager CBE Engineering. The project aims to enhance the quality of care provided to children and their families by integrating additional services and improving the facility's infrastructure and to increase capacity and capability to prepare and recover from emergencies and disasters. The project total area is 3,305 square feet, facility will be expanded by 1,625 square feet, with a focus on key features such as increased capacity, integration of vaccination services, an enhanced waiting area, a lactation room, streamlined health certificate issuance, a dedicated case manager, and improved reception. The project will utilize construction materials such as concrete blocks, concrete, steel, and ceramic tiles. It will also incorporate fire-rated acoustic ceilings, energy-efficient lighting, and a modern HVAC system. A family restroom will be added to cater to the specific needs of families with children. The project will be executed in phases to minimize disruptions, with a timeline of approximately 6-8 months for planning and design, 1-2 months for contractor selection, and 12-18 months for construction and interior renovations. The estimated project cost, excluding equipment expenses, is $1,071,995.87. The project aims to increase the facility's capacity, improve patient experience, and strengthen the capability to recover from emergencies and disasters.
