The 2015 Kern County Community Health Assessment, published by the Kern County Department of Public Health, indicated that drug, alcohol, and tobacco abuse treatment programs were one of the top ten needs in the community. Methamphetamine is a drug of particular concern in Kern County and a methamphetamine reduction task force has been created to help combat methamphetamine use. BAIHP submits this proposal to the SAPTA grant program to further the goal of reducing the incidence of substance use of addicting and illicit drugs in the American Indian and Alaska Native community of Bakersfield, Kern County, California.
