Abstract $209,882.64 is requested over the 5-year project period to establish a SART Team, train SANE Nurses, hospital staff, first responders and community members to increase forensic skills in servicing victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, child maltreatment, strangulation and human trafficking; raise awareness around these issues and their identification and resource availability; and create policies and protocols to insure high quality seamless service and follow through and achieve victim recovery through culturally-adaptive trauma-informed mechanisms. The ultimate outcomes of the project are to insure prosecution on perpetrators, safety and recovery of victims and prevention of future abuses. The project addresses the lack of forensic expertise, training and collaboration of providers to address improved patient outcomes and experiences. It closes a service gaps to effectively address the Tribe’s Strategic Priority to reduce violence related to sexual assault, domestic violence, child maltreatment, strangulation and human trafficking, creates cross-institutional protocols, collaboration, data gathering and continued improvement/evaluation mechanisms.
