State Health Insurance Assistance Program - The Delaware Medicare Assistance Bureau (DMAB) is the State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) for the State of Delaware. Our program has provided Medicare services to Delawareans for over 30 years. Through the provision of objective outreach, counseling, and training, DMAB empowers and educates Medicare-eligible beneficiaries, their families, and caregivers as it relates to making informed health care coverage decisions. Over the course of this five-year project, DMAB will build on its current infrastructure and partner with government agencies and other key stakeholders throughout the state to enhance its goals, objectives, and anticipated outcomes. The goal of this project is to help Medicare beneficiaries make informed health insurance decisions that optimize access to their care and benefits. The objectives are to 1) consistently and confidentially provide accurate, objective, and comprehensive information and assistance; 2) promote awareness, knowledge, and visibility of the program; 3) recruit, train, and retain a diverse, sufficient, and effective workforce at all levels; 4) develop and strengthen the program structure, including policies, processes, and procedures to enable effective and efficient operations. Anticipated outcomes include: 1) Medicare beneficiaries, families, and caregivers will increase knowledge regarding complex Medicare coverage options; 2) increase exposure of DMAB; 3) attract new volunteers; 4) enhance plans for new and innovative ways to target vulnerable and hard-to-reach populations. The intended outcomes are sought to achieve increased performance by the Delaware SHIP. Expected products may include articles, newsletters, informational resources, surveys, marketing, and outreach materials. We have established a large array of partners in the communities and are working diligently to achieve optimal performance.
