The State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) - The Rhode Island Office of Healthy Aging (OHA) in partnership with 11 community partners will continue to improve and expand the RI SHIP network within this five (5) year grant term. The Goal of this project is to continue to empower, educate, and assist Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and caregivers through objective outreach, counseling, and training, so they are able to make informed health insurance decisions that optimize access to care and benefits. The Objectives are: 1) Consistently and confidentially provide accurate, objective, and comprehensive information and assistance; 2) Promote awareness, knowledge, and visibility of the program; 3) Recruit, train, and retain a diverse, appropriate, and effective workforce at all levels; 4) Promote adaptable and sustainable processes and activities to position the SHIP for changes in the programmatic landscape; and 5) Develop and strengthen the program structure and organization. Anticipated Outcomes include: 1) Providing effective and confidential state-wide individualized person-centered counseling assistance to beneficiaries; 2) Providing increased outreach through various media platforms and new partnerships; 3) Maintaining a level of SHIP Counselors and increasing recruitment and engagement amongst the SHIP Volunteers; 4) Increasing innovation and awareness within the SHIP program to better serve Medicare beneficiaries; and 5) Promoting adaptable and sustainable practices within the SHIP program to better serve Medicare beneficiaries and expand program awareness. The expected Products are: 1) Marketing through various media platforms, digital outreach, and utilizing traditional outreach materials in the top three (3) spoken languages; 2) Various comprehensive trainings and resources for team members; 3) Various materials for volunteering recruitment, and 4) Utilizing ACL STARS data system for collecting data and assessing program performance.
