Oklahoma State Health Insurance Assistance Program - Oklahomans are besieged with information about Medicare through television, radio, mail, social media, employers, agents, friends and family members. Although its well-intended, the accuracy is questionable, leaving many confused. The goal of the Medicare Assistance Program (MAP) is to empower, educate, and assist Oklahomans who are Medicare eligible, their families, and caregivers through objective outreach, counseling, and training, to make informed health insurance decision that optimize access to care and benefits. The objectives include (1) 85 percent of clients will have a more thorough understanding of Medicare and other Medicare-related health insurance options after consulting one-on-one with a MAP counselor in order to make a more informed decision about their health insurance; and (2) 85 percent of participants will have a more thorough understanding of Medicare and other Medicare-related health insurance options after participating in a MAP sponsored group outreach or education program in order to make a more informed decision about their health insurance. The outcomes include: (1) Oklahomans will come to recognize the Medicare Assistance Program as a trusted, reliable resource for their Medicare and other health insurance needs; (2) Oklahomans will have a greater understanding of Medicare/health insurance; (3) Oklahomans will have more confidence in making decisions regarding Medicare/health insurance; (4) Oklahomans will make more informed decisions about their Medicare/health insurance; and (5) Oklahomans will become more aware of Medicare fraud, abuse, waste, and errors. The expected products include: (1) Medicare marketing and educational materials; (2) Medicare seminars and workshops, (3) public awareness programs; (4) Medicare counselor training programs; (5) YouTube channel; (6) Medicare eNewsletter; and (7) Medicare listserv.
