State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) - Project Summary/Abstract The Wyoming State Health Insurance Information Program (WSHIIP) aims to enhance outreach, education, and counseling for Medicare beneficiaries, particularly in Wyoming’s rural and frontier areas. The project will focus on providing accurate, confidential assistance, raising awareness of Medicare services, and ensuring beneficiaries can make informed healthcare decisions. Key objectives include strengthening outreach efforts with diverse marketing materials, webinars, and partnerships with local organizations, including senior centers, hospitals, and Indian Health Services. WSHIIP will expand its volunteer base, offering comprehensive training to volunteers across all counties to ensure consistent, high-quality support. The program will also improve its technological capacity by updating its website and increasing social media presence to reach more beneficiaries. The program will prioritize under-served populations, including Native American communities and low-income seniors, by expanding partnerships and implementing targeted outreach strategies. As part of WSHIIP’s No Wrong Door policy, beneficiaries will be referred to the appropriate agency for issues outside the program’s scope, ensuring comprehensive support for all seniors in need. Through innovative solutions such as online training, virtual workshops, and community-based Medicare education sessions, WSHIIP will provide enhanced service to seniors. The program will continue collaborating with local agencies and focusing on volunteer retention and education, aiming to build a sustainable workforce that can effectively meet the growing needs of Wyoming's aging population. Ultimately, WSHIIP will continue to be a trusted resource for Medicare beneficiaries, improving access to care, coverage, and appropriate referrals across the state.
