Nebraska State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) & Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) - The Nebraska Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIP), in coordination with key partners, over the course of this five-year project will expand our program to better accommodate the needs of those newly qualifying for and those currently enrolled into the Medicare program, supporting our program goal to empower, educate, and assist Medicare-eligible individuals through objective outreach, counseling and training. This goal will be met through three objectives. Objective 1) Expand volunteer base to provide an accessible volunteer within each of Nebraska’s 93 counties to provide consistent and confidential information and assistance. Objective 2) Promote awareness and visibility of the program via successful completion of the Part D Enrollment Outcomes (PDEO) data entry audit, allowing program to share outcome publicly. Objective 3) Conduct quarterly surveys of people served via one-on-one counseling sessions and via outreach events to determine opportunities in serving Nebraskans on the topic of Medicare. The anticipated outcome of this project is Outcome 1) Increased volunteer base by 50 volunteers. Outcome 2) Increased awareness of SHIP services and our impact on Nebraskans with Medicare including an increase the number of people SHIP serves by 3.5% each year of this project period. Outcome 3) Improved training of volunteers and processes to better serve people with Medicare. Expected products include a variety of online resources including educational videos and expansion of social media presence, interactive Medicare planning guides, volunteer training webinars, HR professional toolkit, presentation/outreach materials, online and hard copy survey options, and volunteer recruitment resources.
