South Carolina State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SCSHIP) - The South Carolina Department on Aging (SCDOA), in collaboration with the ten Area Agencies on Aging/Aging and Disability Resource Centers (AAA/ADRC) and other stakeholders, will establish a comprehensive statewide counseling network and outreach program. This initiative will assist Medicare beneficiaries in understanding and enrolling in various programs, including Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage, Low Income Subsidy (LIS), Medicare Advantage plans, and more. The project aims to enhance the State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) through one-on-one counseling, presentations, and information distribution to beneficiaries, families, and caregivers. The objectives are to: 1) Provide accurate, comprehensive information and assistance. 2) Promote awareness and visibility of the program. 3) Recruit and retain a diverse workforce. 4) Develop sustainable processes for program adaptability. 5) Strengthen organizational structure and policies. Anticipated outcomes include increasing the number of beneficiaries reached, improving customer satisfaction, and expanding partnerships to broaden outreach and volunteer engagement. Results and expansion of partnerships with related programs to expand the reach to beneficiaries and increase the volunteer base.
