The Wilson-Fish TANF Coordination Project known as Growing Employment Access for Refugees (GEAR), will assist 310 employable participants/year (500 including children), with an annual budget of $400,000. GEAR will assist ORR-eligible populations in Maine who qualify for TANF employment services to acquire skills, experiences, and resources to become self-sufficient and achieve long term social and economic well-being. The GEAR program works closely with the state's TANF Administrator, Fedcap Inc. to provide complementary services. Services are linguistically and culturally appropriate and available statewide through a combination of in-person and remote methods. Services are delivered from Fedcap offices in towns with growing refugee communities but low availability of refugee supportive services (Greater Portland and Biddeford/Saco; Central Maine- Lewiston/Auburn and Greater Augusta area; Coastal area- Bath, Brunswick and Northern Maine- Greater Bangor area).
