A collaboration involving the State of CT and two of the states refugee resettlement agencies to assist TANF-eligible refugees statewide to attain professional or skilled employment. - This important funding will provide the means to ensure that clients achieve self-sufficiency by providing them with the knowledge and support necessary to succeed in their chosen profession or trade. Resettlement agencies serving these clients will continue to build upon existing collaborations with DSS, as well as with professional associations, employers and others to facilitate career opportunities in ways that supplement, rather than supplant, existing services. Planned activities will include foundational case management, employment training and technical assistance, specialized English language instruction, and mentoring. An individualized Career Development Plan will be completed for each participant, drawing upon their previously acquired academic/employment experiences.
