The Community Living Policy Center (CLPC), housed at the Lurie Institute for Disability Policy at Brandeis University, aims to improve policies and practices that promote community living outcomes for individuals with disabilities. Our partners include: University of California San Francisco, Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD), Autistic Self Advocacy Network, Disability Rights Education & Defense Fund, Disability Policy Consortium, Centene Corporation, National Association of States United for Aging and Disabilities, Topeka Independent Living Resource Center, and national policy expert Henry Claypool. The CLPC will conduct seven broad research projects in three priority areas: 1) Policies and Programs Related to Provision of Home and Community Based Services; 2) Policy Barriers and Facilitators of Community Living and Participation Outcomes; and 3) Rapid, Timely Data and Policy Analyses to Inform Policies and Programs that Promote Community Living and Participation Outcomes. The CLPC will also conduct knowledge translation activities, including dissemination, training, and technical assistance targeted to needs of stakeholders. All research and knowledge translation activities will integrally involve individuals with disabilities and be advised by the Disability and Aging Collaborative, a coalition of 40 national organizations. An online CLPC Portal will serve as a national resource for research-based community living policy. In partnership with AUCD, and through the Heller School for Social Policy and Management, training will be provided to build capacity among the next generation of disability policy analysts and researchers.
