Maine Senior Medicare Patrol Program - The Office of Aging ad Disability Services, Maine Department of Health and Human Services (OADS/DHHS), in partnership with Maine’s five Area Agencies on Aging, MaineHealth (the largest healthcare system in Maine), Legal Services for the Elderly (LSE), and other key stakeholders will continue to empower and assist Medicare beneficiaries to prevent, detect, and report healthcare fraud, errors, and abuse through outreach, counseling, and education. The goal is to increase knowledge statewide, of fraud in Medicare and Medicaid, empowering and assisting beneficiaries, their families, caregivers and other consumers to detect, prevent, and report healthcare fraud. The collaborative approach is between the Maine SHIP/ADRCs, LSE, and other national, statewide, and regional and community organizations. Objectives: (1) provide group education and one-on-one assistance to Medicare beneficiaries statewide; (2) recruit, train, and retain a sufficient, high-quality, and effective workforce; (3) monitor and assess results on operational and quality measures; (4) position SMP to respond to changes in programmatic landscape. Outcomes: (1) beneficiaries, families, caregivers and others will have additional opportunities to receive education and one-on-one assistance; (2) additional advanced training will enable and equip team members to provide quality education and inquiry resolution; (3) improved monitoring of operational and quality measures, including accurate data entry; (4) innovative methods and collaborations will allow SMP to meet the needs of current and emerging beneficiaries. Products include marketing and outreach materials, advanced training materials, websites, semi-annual and final reports.
