Provide education, assistance, and one-on-one support to Medicare beneficiaries as outlined within the Senior Medicare Patrol Grant objectives. - Wyoming Senior Citizens, Inc. (WSCI), in partnership with key partners, the Wyoming (WY) State Health Insurance Information Program (WSHIIP), WY Association of Senior Project Directors (WASPD), WY AARP, and the WY Dept. of Insurance (WDOI), will, during this project, expand and enhance the Wyoming Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) program. This project’s goal is the SMP mission: “To empower and assist Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and caregivers to prevent, detect, and report healthcare fraud, errors, and abuse through outreach, counseling, and education.” The program objectives toward that goal are to 1. provide group education and one-on-one assistance to Medicare beneficiaries on a statewide basis; 2. to recruit, train, and retain a sufficient and effective workforce equipped to provide high-quality education and one-on-one support; 3. to monitor and assess SMP results through operational and quality measures; and 4. to position SMP to nimbly and effectively respond to changes in the programmatic landscape. The anticipated outcome of this project is that more Medicare enrollees will be proactive and confident about confronting Medicare fraud, abuse, or error and will contact SMP to report issues, seek assistance, or ask to volunteer. Expected products are outreach/education materials, team member management resources, team member training, a certification policy, evaluation tools, program performance reports, postcard outreach, a new volunteer coordinator position, and innovative media products.
