NYS Lifespan Respite - New York’s Lifespan Respite Core Team—New York State Office for the Aging (NYSOFA), New York State Caregiving and Respite Coalition (NYSCRC), and NY Connects/No Wrong Door (NWD)—will build capacity through collaboration, coordination, and input from caregivers and other key stakeholders to meet the goal and objectives. Goal: Build upon and strengthen the current Lifespan Respite Care System by expanding respite care services, fostering new partnerships, and implementing targeted statewide outreach to continue to create a sustainable and coordinated system that supports family caregivers across the age and disability spectrum. Objectives: (1) Expand and diversify partnerships to enhance the capacity and reach of New York’s Lifespan Respite Care System; (2) Increase the availability and variety of respite care options for family caregivers; (3) Advance the development of additional NYSCRC satellite regional Caregiver Wellness and Respite Centers (CWRCs) that will engage, assess, and provide supportive services to family caregivers; (4) Raise awareness of the critical contributions and unprecedented challenges faced by family caregivers; (5) Strengthen connections between the local NWD/Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) and caregiver support networks to promote access to respite care and other essential supportive services for caregivers. Products: Caregiver-specific newsletter; Faith-based respite toolkit; Statewide caregiver and respite focused training for the NWD system; Public awareness materials; CWRC monitoring tool; and Final report, including program evaluation. Outcomes: (1) Enhanced well-being and reduced feelings of stress for caregivers (2) Growth in the number and diversity of respite care providers; (3) Greater availability and accessibility of caregiver supports statewide; (4) Increased collaborations and partnerships; (5) Increased referrals from the NWD to caregiver services.
