Statewide Expansion of the Idaho Health Data Exchange (A Statewide Health Information Exchange for Idaho) - The grantee, Idaho Health Data Exchange (IHDE), supports the statewide expansion of Idaho???s health information exchange in collaboration with the Office of the National Coordinator. We seek funding for the attached project "Statewide Expansion of the Idaho Health Data Exchange (A Statewide Health Information Exchange for Idaho)." The goal of the project is to improve the quality and coordination of care through the implementation of a Health Information Exchange (HIE). The objectives are to: 1) Connect a minimum of 25 hospitals, 10 ancillary service providers (labs, and imaging centers) and 1,500 providers to the Exchange; 2) Provide electronic ordering capability for labs and imaging centers through the Exchange; 3) Create a bi-directional interface between the Exchange and the Idaho Immunization Reminder System (IRIS); 4) Educate consumers regarding health information exchange using culturally, linguistically and linguistically appropriate materials; 5) Create a sustainable business model; 6) Connect Idaho to other state health information exchanges and 7) Measure the impact of the implementation of a health information exchange in Idaho. The expected outcome of this project is a standards-based, statewide health information exchange that provides the infrastructure for improved quality and coordination of health care in Idaho and a report on the impact of the implementation of the Exchange.
The IHDE was designated by Governor C.L. ???Butch??? Otter as the State Designated Entity to receive funds under Section 3013 of ARRA. IHDE began operations as an HIE in 2008. The attached State Plan, and supporting documentation, details how we will use ONC funds to accelerate our comprehensive implementation of HIE throughout Idaho, even as we explore regional strategies with Montana, Oregon, Washington and Utah to share clinical and administrative information.
