Manufacturing Facility at Port Authority of Stafford County - Stafford County Economic Development will use $800,000 in CED funds to expand the impact of the Port Authority of Stafford County (PASC), to create sustainable economic opportunities that will strengthen the local economy and build assets for local, rural residents of St. John, Kansas. Within Stafford County, the poverty rate of part-time and non-working residents is 23%. Stafford County Economic Development will use the CED grant and over $4 million in other funding to develop a road-rail transload facility. This will provide transportation for businesses, spurring local business expansion, creating a pipeline of jobs with asset building potential, and increasing the availability of skill-building jobs. to Newly-hired individuals will receive referrals to resources that increase access to employment, affordable housing, childcare, financial counseling and other wraparound services. The project will create 26 new jobs, 20 of which will be filled by individuals with low incomes.
