Translating Findings on Supports for Community Life Engagement - The Institute on Disability at the University of New Hampshire, in partnership with the Institute for Community Inclusion at the University of Massachusetts Boston and ANCOR, propose a five-year project to translate tools developed from two NIDILRR Field Initiated projects, namely the Community Life Engagement (CLE) Toolkit (90IF0075, 2014-2017) and the CLE Fidelity Scale (90IFRE0025, 2020-2023), into practice. Knowledge translations activities will be informed by a Knowledge to Action framework and will target service providers supporting individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD) nationally. Both this earlier research and the proposed project are based in NIDILRR’s community living and participation domain. The goal of this project is to promote use of these tools by service providers, resulting in increased CLE of people with IDD. The objectives are: 1) to establish a national Community of Practice on CLE including both ANCOR state association members and individual provider members, 2) promote peer-to-peer sharing of effective ways to use the CLE tools via a quarterly “lunch-and-learn” webinar series and 3) provide regular prompts and suggestions to a wide audience via a monthly e-newsletter. Anticipated outcomes include increased knowledge and use of the existing suite of CLE tools, leading to more community-engaged supports by service providers, and increased CLE of people with disabilities. The expected products are a CLE Community of Practice Implementation Guide, an enhanced CLE Toolkit including webinar recordings and newsletter content, a peer-reviewed journal manuscript, a brief publication for practitioners, and conference presentations. All work will be guided by an advisory group that includes researchers, service providers, and people with IDD.
