Goal: Southwest ADA Center (SWADA) will contribute to the full inclusion and integration of people with disabilities in their communities by conducting activities in federal Region VI that will promote and support the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Objectives: SWADA will provide several services to benefit stakeholders with rights and responsibilities under the ADA: • high impact training with experienced, qualified, and well-trained trainers • dissemination of information about the ADA utilizing methods ranging from print mail to the latest popular social media tools and networking websites to reach the broadest audiences; • timely, relevant, accurate technical assistance that respond to the needs of the requesting individuals and entities; • innovative research into access barriers experienced by people with disabilities and improving the capacity of entities to serve them. • collaboration with affiliates and the ADA National Network to efficiently deliver these services nationwide. Outcomes: SWADA will improve the knowledge of stakeholders on their rights and responsibilities under the ADA. SWADA will improve the capacity of service providers to provide ADA trainings, TA, and dissemination to their consumers. ADA stakeholders will utilize the knowledge and capacity to address barriers and improve access for people with disabilities. Products: trainings to various targeted entities; webinars and e-bulletins on emerging legal & disability issues; publications; best practices addressing health care, and service animals and employment.
