IDRPP Core Grant (2022-2027) University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities - The Institute for Disability Research, Policy & Practice (IDRPP) at Utah State University is improving the quality of life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families, across the lifespan, by engaging in interdisciplinary training, research, service, and dissemination activities that support health, independence, economic self-sufficiency, and full participation in all aspects of society. The IDRPP accomplishes this mission in partnership with the Utah DD network, agencies, advocacy organizations, self-advocates, families. The IDRPP conducted a yearlong, statewide, needs assessment that identified specific needs in Utah for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the areas of employment, housing, transition, mental health, HCBS waitlist, research capacity, increased self-advocate involvement. The IDRPP in collaboration with its Community Advisory Committee (CAC), has developed 6 goals, with attendant objectives and activities in these identified areas of need. These goals are based upon the UCEDD core functions and include: (1) Interdisciplinary preservice preparation and continuing education; (2) Research; (3) Community Services; (4) Training and Technical Assistance; (5) Information Dissemination. Anticipated outcomes include but are not limited to increased access to quality community-based care, mental health supports, employment opportunities, effective transitions, housing supports, and increased access to information and evidence-based services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
