USING SELF DETERMINATION SKILLS FOR WORKPLACE SUCCESS - LearningQ, LLC 444 Kent Way, Zephyr Cove, NV 89448-0618 Abstract: USING SELF DETERMINATION SKILLS FOR SUCCESS Amy Fox, PI National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (CFDA # 93.433) HHS-2025-ACL-NIDILRR-BISA 0108 SBIR Phase 1 LearningQ LLC in partnership with key stakeholder Charting the Life Course will, in the course of this six-month project, develop and test a microlearning curriculum on the subject of Using Self-Determination for Success, to be used on the LearningQ platform. Our company’s mission is to build better lives by providing access to learning, ultimately serving as many individuals with IDD who want to learn. The goal of this project is to improve access and effectiveness of workforce training skills by augmenting existing programs and independent learning, with on-demand microlearning resources and tools. Objectives: 1) Build twenty-five, high-engagement skill units covering the basics of self-determination skills, supporting better access to caregivers for learners with IDD . 2) Demonstrate participant engagement, understanding, and retention of self-determination skills by utilizing site-based analytics, skill assessments, retention data, and user surveys and interviews. 3) Increase the availability of workforce training skills training by offering virtual classes and independent study. Anticipated outcomes: 1. Participants with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) will gain awareness of how to use self-determination and advocacy skills in their workforce training environments, enabling greater independence towards career development. 2. Agency staff will have a reduced workload and more efficient support per participant, allowing them to serve a larger audience; 3. Using weekly recap and recommendation tools will provide learners with a targeted way to reduce skill degradation over time. Potential Commercial Applications Educational licensing for organizations, direct-to-consumer (dtc) sales for families and caregivers, partnerships with higher education and transition programs, and virtual course packages for remote learning providers.
