The Blackfeet Teen Pregnancy Prevention Project are working to educate American Indian (AI) youth on or near the Blackfeet Indian Reservation in the areas of abstinence, pregnancy prevention, and prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STI) and Adulthood Preparation Subjects (APS) which are Healthy Relationships, Adolescent Development, healthy Life Skills and Parent/Child./Communication. We have developed the following achievable and realistic goals. Conduct a needs assessment and develop plans to address the needs of American Indians (AI) youth on the Blackfeet Reservation in the areas of Adolescent pregnancy, prevention and youth preparation for adulthood. Will Implement at least sixty four (64) educationally programming events that are medically accurate, and culturally appropriate to youth in grades 7-8. The program will educate the adolescents on abstinence and contraception to prevent teen pregnancy and STI's. We will implement culturally based practices in our Curriculum that has been approved by our Advisory Coalition. The Curriculum that was selected is the "Respecting the Circle of Life", which has been approved by the Valier, Heart Butte, and Browning Public schools. To date the Valier and Heart Butte School have implemented and are teaching this curriculum to the 7th and 8th grade students. Our Community Outreach Technicians are working in the communities on the Blackfeet Reservation providing awareness to the teens that are pregnant/parenting on teen pregnancy prevention and STI's.
