The program targets participants with the greatest need, ages 11-19, grades 6th -12th, residing in areas with high teen birth rates located in Tarrant County, in the state of Texas. The approach within this 3-year plan to inspire change one youth at a time through replication of evidence-based curriculum, REAL Essentials. Life success starts with healthy relationships. Healthy relationships start with REAL Essentials. The program educates youth on abstinence and contraception and adulthood preparations subjects, including adolescent development, healthy life skills, and financial literacy. The Youth LEAP initiative focus on developing leadership skills and opportunities through education, cultural enrichment, personal development and more. These strategies focus on helping students build critical social, emotional, and academic skills necessary to succeed in school, career, and life. The program for adolescents includes tools and resources needed to create long lasting, positive, and healthy relationships. Youth Leadership Education Achievement Program aims to provide young adolescents with the knowledge, confidence, and skills necessary to reduce their risk of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), STIs, HIV and teen pregnancy by abstaining from sex or using contraception if they choose to have sex. Strategies include problem solving, critical thinking, and lays the foundation to motivate youth to explore and examine consequences and become accountable for their actions. CVSS seeks to create empowerment within youth, enabling them to succeed regardless of their surroundings or environmental situations. Youth development and healthy relationship activities enables adolescents to understand the value of life and social skills by identifying the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and the consequences of an unhealthy one.
