Future First (FF) has been created to provide a comprehensive approach to educate youth on contraception and abstinence for the prevention of pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) through medically accurate information while promoting a healthy and successful transition to adulthood. This will be accomplished though encouragement of healthy communication, employment skills, healthy life skills, skills for employment, and financial literacy. The primary workshops will use the evidence-based Love Notes Evidence-Based Program Model (LN-EBP) developed by Dibble Institute in order to implement the adult preparation subjects. LN-EBP consists of 13 sessions that are roughly 45 minutes each. Youth who desire to continue on to Basic Computer Skills Training (BCST) courses will be able to complete them with The Ladder Alliance. FF will work in tandem with The University of Texas at Austin as the local evaluator as well as The Ladder Alliance, which will provide job skills training courses and financial literacy. From September of 2021-September of 2024, we anticipate being able to serve approximately 1500 youth with 900 of them completing at least 90% of the primary workshops. For year 2, we have a goal of 500 youth being served with 300 of those youth completing at least 90% of the primary workshops. Our target population is youth between the ages of 13-19 who have at least one Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) or have been/are in foster care.
