These new IM resident positions will be maintained at the CMU Health Riverfront ambulatory primary care center, which provides services that include primary care and health screenings for the underserved rural and urban populations in Michigan. The IM clinic houses the offices for the Program Director, Associate Program Director, Coordinator and other faculty who manage the program. The primary in-patient clinical site is Ascension St. Mary’s hospital, caring for high acuity, low-resourced patients and is a comprehensive stroke center, also specializing in structural heart care and cancer care. The hospital and clinic are in a primary care, dental and mental health HPSA area, specifically in a region of Saginaw with an under-resourced, minority population. The total FTE positions requested to be funded under this program for all years of training is 6 (2-2-2). The FTE positions requested to be funded under this program for AY 2022-2023 is 2 (2-0-0). With this commitment, CMEP has continued to expand upon its mission to train diverse and culturally competent physicians, focused on improving
