This proposal aims to develop and implement a national shared interoperable Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system,along with associated information system building blocks, to enhance Health System management and ensure quality patient care in alignment with the NHI framework in South Africa. The focus will be on developing an EMR specifically tailored for HIV and TB, gradually replacing the existing fragmented, aged and isolated information systems. The HIV/TB EMR is a critical component of the National Digital Health Architecture.
