Project AbstractCDC-RFA-OT20-2004The Hopi Tribe proposes to construct modular buildings on Hopi Tribal lands to serve as a central point of services to support comprehensive public health response activities and emergency community services related to the COVID-19 pandemic on a 24-7 basis. In its response to urgent Hopi reservation-wide public health needs, the Hopi Emergency Response Team and Emergency Operations Center is forced to carry out its preparedness and response activities to COVID-19 from a small conference room within the Hopi Tribe?s Wellness Center. This has created issues in logistics, training & support, communication, recovery activities, social distancing, and procurement of large supplies and equipment. Funding under this proposal will allow the Hopi Tribe to carry out emergency operations and coordination, surveillance and epidemiology, communications, countermeasures, mitigation, and recovery activities, including establishment of an emergency operation center to coordinate human resources for essential tribal staff, procurement of supplies, collaboration of emergency activities with partner agencies-regional, state, federal, and public relations and information sharing with tribal members. With a proper and adequately equipped emergency center, we expect to achieve (1) increased capacity and stability of emergency tribal operations and coordination, and (2) decreased community infection through efficient and effective countermeasures, mitigation and recovery activities. This grant proposal includes estimated project and construction costs of $1,500,000.00.
