Feather River Tribal Health, Inc. (FRTH) is a Tribal healthcare program located in northern California. FRTH provides direct healthcare services to eligible Native Americans residing in a three county service area of Butte, Sutter, and Yuba counties. FRTH grew very disheartened by the escalating substance abuse that was damaging our local native communities. Motivated for change, FRTH applied for and was awarded the TOR grant during its first cycle. FRTH explored the needs of the community to identify ways to start addressing this overwhelming epidemic. FRTH created a pilot intensive outpatient program addressing ones mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs. Through direct services including substance abuse counseling, individual and group therapy, medications for the treatment of opioid use disorders and culturally based activities, individuals were slowly able to find their balance again. While FRTH is very proud of the comprehensive support we are able to offer our community, FRTH recognizes that there room for expansion and enhance of cultural knowledge, to enrich our services. The goal of the grant will be to conduct 45 GPRA data collection interviews in the first year and 65 in the second year totaling 110. Outside of direct service, FRTH has a goal to provide access for 30 individuals to be trained in culturally appropriate interventions. The main goal is for FRTH to become a Wellbriety certified treatment program by the end of year one.
