This project will improve treatment outcomes and reduce risk of overdose in Native American adults 18 and over by providing increased access to Medicine Assisted Treatment (MAT) and expanding substance use disorder (SUD) treatment services. Some participants travel up to 40+ miles from the community to gain access to MAT. With expansion of treatment services, including increased case management capacity, the Pueblo of Pojoaque will seek to expand enrollment in its Healing to Wellness Court to up to 30 people at one time. This will include 8-10 people with opioid use disorder. Participants who present with OUD often leave the program early due to various barriers or factors, including lack of intensive outpatient substance use disorder treatment and MAT. The proposed goals for the program will directly impact these participants and their access to treatment. We expect to increase MAT availability for an additional 45 people and enhance substance use disorder treatment for an additional 60 individuals throughout the five years of this project. Except for a few eligible non-Native self-referrals, all people served by PTW are Native American.
