The intent of Confederated Tribe's of Siletz Indian's project proposal for funding is to expand and enhance diabetes prevention and intervention programming with a heavy focus on diabetes-related education, nutrition, exercise, food sovereignty, prediabetes programming, and enhancing access to fitness and recreation through cultural means. The department will also be developing family and individual targeted prevention programming through healthy traditions, fitness, and recreation events and activities. Our strategy to achieve these goals is to expand employee and contracted positions in the department to meet the needs of facilities that work towards prevention, intervention, and management but require multiple staff shifts to maintain and meet the communities needs. We are also increasing the amount of client support to increase access to to exercise facilities for our large service area, support nutritional treatment plans, and diabetic medical equipment needs that are not covered by insurance. Our strategy also incorporates opportunities that target intervention, prevention, and management of diabetes across the lifespan.
