The Indiana Family Health Council (IFHC), Inc. is the lead organization to apply for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Population Affairs funding opportunity for Family Planning Services Grant a regional project in Illinois. IFHC requests annual funding of $2,132,147 for year 1 and a total of 10,660,735 for the five year project period.
The proposed Illinois Title X Family Planning project will provide family planning services according to program statute, regulations, legislative mandates, program priorities, and key issues in nine counties (Clark, Coles, Crawford, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar, Effingham, Jasper and Vermilion) in the Eastern part of the state. IFHC anticipates on providing services to a minimum of 8,000 unduplicated clients in year 1. The IFHC Reproductive Health Needs Assessment identified the following groups to be at greatest risk for adverse outcomes in the regional Illinois project:
• Individuals at risk for unintended pregnancy,
• Families needing child spacing,
• Adolescents and families,
• Rural communities
• Underserved communities, and
• Populations where disparities in reproductive health exist
IFHC will develop the Illinois Family Planning Centers by providing services in two traditional service sites located Coles and Vermilion Counties and one mobile unit to cover Clark, Crawford, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar, Effingham, and Jasper counties.
