The Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians is applying for the FY 2023 Indian Health Service Tribal Management Grant to address material and organizational weaknesses as found in accordance with Office of Inspector General Compliance regulations pertaining to Indian Healthcare Improvement Act Reauthorization of 2010 and third-party billing. The Lac Courte Oreilles Community Health Center is in immediate jeopardy of losing the ability to bill third-party insurances for our clinical and behavioral health services provided to our service population. Hiring an outside consultant to provide a comprehensive audit, lead with the development of OIG compliant policies and procedures, and implementation of a corrective action plan to sustain OIG compliance will assist the Tribe and staff of the LCO CHC to meet our goal of improving and maintaining OIG compliance.
