(HCCH) is a 501c3 non-profit organization and a Federally Qualified Health Center serving the needs of homeless and low-income housed but uninsured or under-insured residents of Orange, Osceola and Seminole Counties in Central Florida. HCCH, d/b/a Orange Blossom Family Health (OBFH) and Orange Blossom Pediatrics, takes a multi-disciplinary approach to providing quality, compassionate and culturally appropriate health services. Need: The Health Care Center for the Homeless, Inc. (HCCH) service area of Orange, Osceola and Seminole Counties was impacted by Hurricane Ian in 2022. Proposed Projects: Health Care Center for the Homeless, Inc. (HCCH) is submitting a response to the CARE funding opportunity to support two projects. The first project will address roof repairs and the purchase and installation of an external generator and impact windows at the Main Orange Blossom Family Health (OBFH) site in the 32805 Zip code – total cost of $301,000. The second project will address the purchase and installation of an external generator at the Ivey Lane Orange Blossom Family Health (OBFH) site in the 32811 Zip code in Orlando, Florida – total cost of $189,000. HCCH believes these projects meet the expectations of the funding opportunity by supporting the continuity of the delivery of high-quality health services in the aftermath of emergencies or disasters; increasing organizational capability to prepare for, respond to and/or recover from future emergencies or disasters; and advancing organizational objectives to expand access to health services and reduce health disparities. Population to Be Served: The service area for Health Care Center for the Homeless, Inc. (HCCH) is Orange, Osceola and Seminole Counties. Care is provided for homeless and low-income housed but uninsured and underinsured residents as well as those who may have the benefit of private insurance. In 2022, over 80% of HCCH patients were living at or below 100% of the Federal Poverty Level and over 60% had no form of health coverage. The proposed projects will impact the HCCH service area by ensuring continuity of care at the two largest Orange Blossom Family Health service delivery sites should the area be affected by a hurricane.
