The Office of Public Health and Science (OPHS) is led by the Assistant Secretary for Health (ASH). OPHS consists of the Immediate Office of ASH, Office of the Surgeon General, the Office of HIV/AIDS Policy, Office of Population Affairs (OPA), the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, Office of Minority Health (OMH), the Office on Women’s Health, Office of Emergency Preparedness (OEP), the Office for Human Research Protections, Office of Global Health Affairs, the Office of Research Integrity, Office of Military Liaison and Veterans Affairs and National Vaccine Program Office. These offices are actively engaged in a broad array of activities that support and facilitate the work of many of the Department’s Operating Divisions. OPA & OMH are the primary program offices that manage grant programs within OPHS to support its main objectives. OPA & OMH collectively manage 642 awards.
