NDVH, a project of the Texas Council on Family Violence (TCFV) - Operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, this service is the only one of its kind nationally, offering a TTY line for the Deaf, Deaf Blind and Hard of Hearing, employing advocates who speak both English and Spanish and offering translations for more than 140+ languages. The Hotline's two distinct services are invaluable to callers in crisis - advocacy and the ability to directly connect to immediate sources of help and safety in their communities. The Hotline's guiding principles ensure that callers will receive confidentiality, compassion, crisis intervention, safety planning options, and the quality services needed to change lives and save lives.
TCFV is the largest dv coalition in the nation (over 700). TCFV provides training, technical support and networking opporunities to shelters across Texas; offers training and assistance with DV protocols to law enforcement agencies state-wide; provides training to battering intervention and prevention for laws and policies that affect battered women and their children; works to protect survivors through the passage of significant laws related to DV; and collaborates with others to facilitate the social, legal, and cultrual changes needed to permanently stop the violence.
